![]() Working out in the Gym is very similar to working the word of God in our lives. How can this be so true? Well when we are out of shape physically we have to begin somewhere to start getting back into shape. Well to get spiritually in shape we have to open the bible at sometime and start getting into the word of God; just like we have to picking up the weights in the Gym. Now, that we have decided to get serious in getting into physical shape. We have to begin disciplining ourselves in going to the Gym on a regular basis. WE can’t just choose it is okay to go every now and then and expect to get into shape. Well the same thing applies to the more we discipline ourselves getting into the bible we begin to spiritually get stronger in the word. Just think about it; when we start off with 5lbs weights and if we keep this routine going for a while; then we will start graduating to 10 lbs, 20 lbs and etc. and etc. right. To become more spiritually stronger we would need to open the bible and start reading it. The more we read and the more we start memorizing the verse the stronger we become with the word of our Lord Jesus. Then the word of God will begin to change us spiritually just as the weights change us physically. Let’s look at some scripture’s to help us see this is true. Heb 5:12-14 (12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (13) For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (14) But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. 1Co 3:2 (2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 1Pe 2:1-3 (1) Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, (2) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (3) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Sometimes, when we workout we get a little intimidated! How can this be so? Well! We see that other men or women can do more than we can or even last longer than we do. This causes us to be intimidated by the fact we thought we were stronger than we thought. Hmm! Think about it for a minute. Well! They are lifting more weights than we can. Especially, when we notice they are about the same size as we are or even when they look smaller than we do. So we can tell that they are stronger and lift more weights. This gets us in a intimidated state of mind. This very same thing happens with the word of God. How does this compare with the word of God? We will be catching ourselves at least saying 1 or 2 things. The first one is they are smarter in the word than we are. The second one is someone might say “Gee! They really get deep into the word.” The most important thing is having a mind set of not giving up. We have to press through with the word and obtain that wisdom and knowledge to grow on. We do the same thing in lifting weights to get our bodies stronger. Right! Jos 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. You see WE have the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to help us when we do get discouraged. Now, if we don’t go to the gym regularly we will never know if the workout is going to work for us or not. The same thing will happen to us about using the word of God. We have to work it regular to know if it will work for us or not. Get the point! Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. We will know if it is working or not for us. We will have to give it time. In the physical sense, our appearance should change and our strength will increase for the better. Right! This means we will eventually show some weight lose, muscle growth by lifting more weights, and leading into feeling more confident about ourselves altogether. The trick is it doesn’t all happen overnight. We have to keep working at it. This same technique applies to building the word of God into our lives. We will begin to noticing we are remembering scriptures, where they are located at, even to the location in our favorite bible. We begin to feel more revelations of his word working in our lives. We will have a better attitude not only about ourselves but towards others. The ending results will be this. Everyone around you will notice. Praise God! Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Inner man or spiritual man inside of us) The phrase from the scripture above “faith to faith” is the expression of growth. Oh Yea! “ Faith to Faith” increase in knowledge and wisdom; same as going from 15 pounds to twenty-five pounds in weight. Halleluiah! We can also take the word “revealed” is another word for us to use as an expression of growth. How? His righteousness has been shown to us. Wow! See when we begin to talk about the word more and more we are growing and people will notice. Look at the phrase “The just shall live by faith.” This can also represent appearance. Give God some Glory! His word is working in our lives! Col 1:9-15 (9) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; (10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; (11) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; (12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: (14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (15) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Then finally we can’t over do it. What do I mean by this? When we push too hard in a workout we can injure ourselves by pulling a muscle, tearing a tendon, and even actually making ourselves weaker. We can be become tired and exhausted to where we can’t even lift the weights up. Our joints or muscles begin to ache. Remember some ache is good so we know we are progressing. That means we know we are moving forward. We get that same feeling when God’s word is applied in our life. When we push too hard in God’s word: we may get confused what the scripture is saying to us. The enemy can twist the words on us by bring out other scriptures and don’t apply to us especially when we are trying to study the word when we mentally and psychically exhausted. When we listen to too many other ministers whether; it is by books, audio messages or even video messages. Some of those ministers are not even talking about the truth because; they themselves have a lack of understanding of the word. Some use trickier and deceive you for their benefits. The word of God should hurt us at times. When this happens we will truly know that we are growing. It’s called God stepping on our toes! Our pride gets broken and we will become humble. Our hearts and minds will change from doing what is wrong to right and becoming blessed and highly favored from our Lord. Think about these scriptures when we get weak and tired. Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. When you make a good conscience and transformation the word begins to change our lives. It is a proven fact. Take a look at the scripture below. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
