For Better or Worse Part 2 - It's time to end the revolving door.

We all have heard the saying when one door closes another will open.  There’re two problems with this: one, there is no exact scripture that says it word for word and second, most of the time it is related to a job change, getting new friends, going to another church or living in a different area, and other similar situations such as these.  The Lord spoke to me and said, “My people are stuck in a revolving door with their lives spinning out of control even when they move from those situations above and can’t understand why. I want to close some other types of doors for them that will stop them from spinning out of control and open the real doors that will bring them full blessings.”

Remember, what was said in Part 1 and if you haven’t read it. It was talking about Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”?  The doors that really need to be closed are called the negative ways of life that draws us from having the fullness of God in our life.  Why is this so?  These very negative ways have some draw backs that makes it look like we still have things under control when we really don’t.

Let’s look at Deuteronomy 31:7 “And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.” Now from this scripture we can see how God could close one door and open another by moving us from one job, friend, church or home, and other similar situations to another.  Now, let’s take a strong look at some realities why the blessings may not last very long even though these other doors have closed and the new ones have opened. It’s called “we still want to hang on to the world’s way of life.”

This may be tough to accept but even the smallest sins can stop us from receiving the fullness that God has to offer us.  We don’t take the passage like Galatians 5:19-21 serious “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

No matter how we look at it; these are the things that can still stop us from seeing the fullness of God’s blessings and still wonder why the one door that was opened full of blessings doesn’t last very long.  The problem is we tend to weigh out sin whether it is big or small and that just simply doesn’t work in God’s eyes or in his kingdom.

The real answer is back in verse 17 of Galatians in we do have a problem with weighing out sin “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”  This is telling us we have a hard time letting go of what the flesh desires to do. That’s why so many still have a revolving door going on in their lives.

Now remember what was said in Deuteronomy 31:6 about never forsaking us, to stay strong, and fear not or be afraid. It’s time to reconfirm such truth that he is with us through it all with Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”  We have to understand in order to stop that revolving door we need Galatians 5:22-25 working effectively in our life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” at all the times. Yes, it’s true and it can be seen in Colossians 3:8-15 as well about removing sin and taking on the ways of God. Now, what we really need to focus on is get to that place.  The trick is we have to be more serious than we have been in the past to make it work.

John 8:32 tell us it will work “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Then when you go over to Matthew 7:7-8 it tells us what we need to do to obtain that truth “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  Then Hebrews 4:16 tells us exactly what we need to do when that door opens up so we can remove all these things that still causes us to think we’re stuck in a revolving door “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We need to understand it’s up to us to make that commitment to want that change meaning nobody else can live that change for us.  Peter tells us that this is very true and that God is interested in what is going on in our lives as well as what our attitude should be like and where it should be at. 1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Let’s break all of this down.  “Humble yourselves” is the attitude on being serious or not.  “Therefore under the mighty hand of God” implies where we need to be at, which matches Hebrews 4:16. “Exalt you in due time” tells exactly what Deuteronomy 31:6; 8 implies God is one step ahead of us to remove or close that door that needs to be closed and open up that new door that needs to be open which is receiving everything God has to offer us.

So, when we do “Casting all your (our) care upon him” it’s another way of saying help me Oh Lord! Close those doors that need to be closed and don’t let anything that stand in my way or stop me from receiving all your blessings.  Then we will see the final results “for he careth for you” and begin noticing those new doors opening with everything he desires for you to have.  This also says God is with us from our worst moments of life to our best moments.  This is God being there “For Better or Worse.”

Wow!  God will keep his promise when we decide to get to that place. Then and only then will we stop seeing the revolving doors that continue to happen in our lives outside of the enemy trying to interfere.
